CCU & FRNWR Natural History Series 2013

Columbia Credit Union sponsors an engaging new event series presented by the Friends of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge!

Columbia Credit Union along with the Friends of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge proudly present the Natural History Event Series with three events scheduled for 2013. The first event, Aldo Leopold’s nationally renowned documentary about the legendary conservationist, “Green Fire,” will show on Thursday, April 11th at the Old Liberty Theatre in downtown Ridgefield beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Columbia Credit Union will sponsor  the new informative Natural History Series presented by the Friends of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge. Held at the Old Liberty Theatre in downtown Ridgefield, the events focus on the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, and serve to educate attendees about the striking local Northwest environment, its history and its geology. We invite you to attend, listen and mingle with distinguished lecturers and other community members.

Make a note of the dates of the first three presentations:

  1. Thursday, April 11, 2013 – Aldo Leopold’s renowned movie “Green Fire,” an EMMY award winning documentary film about the legendary conservationist.
  2. Thursday, June 13, 2013 - Scott Burns, Professor of Geology and past Chair of the Department of Geology at Portland State University, will present a recounting of the  cataclysmic Missoula Floods and their effect on our region.
  3. Thursday, September 19, 2013 - Kenneth Ames, a Professor of Anthropology at Portland State University, will speak about the Archaeological History of our region since the last Ice Age culminating with the Chinookan Village of Cathlapotle.

The Friends will use these series as fundraising events with both live and silent auctions to bid on. Funds raised will provide for the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge and the Plankhouse’s many programs, activities and events that thousands of visitors enjoy each year.

Tickets are $10 for members, $15 for non-members.

7:15pm Live auction begins
7:45pm Silent auction ends
8:00pm Presentation begins
9:30pm Evening ends

Refreshments will be available for purchase from The Old Liberty Theatre
