The Carty Unit is the site of the new Ridgefield NWR Community Nature Center. Facilities include a new parking area, information kiosk, visitor contact station, classrooms, engaging native plants and local landscaping, and more.
In addition, the Friends are in the early stages of building an outdoor education classroom and Nature Exploration Area, in order to provide accessible outdoor interpretive facilities.
