BirdFest & Bluegrass 2021 is being celebrated partially virtual, with some in-person in-town events, like the Saturday Market and Bluegrass Bands in Downtown Ridgefield, and a self-guided Refuge hike. This way, we can take you back to why our Refuge started, and help people learn more about why it is here! Those videos will be available all at once on Saturday, all in one place!
The Friends began BirdFest & Bluegrass as a way to help the public learn more about Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, and today it hosts educational events that help teach you the value of our land. The Refuge was established as nesting grounds for displaced Dusky Canada Geese, and today has become much more than that; with the Cathlapotle Plankhouse, annual Sandhill Crane Migrations, field trips, walking trails, an auto tour route, and educational events all over the landscape – there is something for everyone on every visit. So help us celebrate beginnings, for the Refuge, for the Friends, for our community, for the “new normal,” and everything between.
