Plankhouse Updates & Events
Changes on the
Landscape
Over the next few years the US Fish &
Wildlife Service, Friends of RNWR, the City
of
Ridgefield, and other partners are engaged
in
multiple infrastructure and habitat
improvement
projects that will result in overall
progress
for the health of our Refuge. The Carty
Unit
will be undergoing some extensive changes
as a
result. Please keep your attention on
social
media, websites, and of course this
newsletter
for how Refuge 20/20 projects will
affect our Lifeways & Landscapes
Programs.
We hope that you will join us on our
journey
and look forward to the benefits of a
deeply
revitalized landscape.

Cathlapotle
Plankhouse Second Sunday Series
Fittingly the theme for the 2019 Second
Sunday
Series is Resilience and Resurgence.
As we revitalize the Refuge oak woodlands,
we
turn an eye towards those that have shaped
this
landscape Since Time Immemorial. This year
we
will bring you five events as part of the
Second Sunday Series, embracing topics such
as
Ancestors and Elders, Oaksploration,
and of course the annual community
favorite,
Traditional Technologies Day in August. As
always, our series will highlight issues
most
closely related to the work we do here at
Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge. The
series
will take place on the Second Sunday of the
month, beginning in May and ending in
September.
